Dear Carol,

Hello from your Local Coordinator in Dallas! This past Thursday, we hosted a booth at the Joy of Life showcase at the Angelika Theater in Dallas, TX. You can see the Directors of Roscon Foundation, Carol Smith and Mary Micaela Wright supporting our cause in the picture above.

Now that the excitement of starting the school year is fading, and our exchange students have settled in, efforts are underway to plan for our 2019 activities. I am actively recruiting to build a support team of Local Coordinators (LC) who can help identify potential host families for the 2019-2020 school year. I hope you can consider becoming an LC in my Dallas team or recommending someone you feel might be passionate about this role in their community.

Each year, American Councils supports around 100 bright, young, motivated students who have earned scholarships to come to the U.S. to live with a host family and attend high school for an academic year. Our students are exclusively on merit-based programs supported by the U.S. government and U.S. embassies abroad.

As an LC, you will be a part of a U.S.-based community of coordinators directly supported by our team in our D.C. headquarters and backed by our 30+ offices and partners in over 50 countries around the world. LCs help to facilitate the placement of students into their American host family, then serve as the link between host families, the local community, and American Councils. As an LC, you will support students in your community, ensuring their experience in the U.S. is unforgettable.

My American Councils activities are also supported by Global Educational Concepts (GEC) and the Roscon Foundation. GEC is focused on bringing business-minded high school exchange students who are also interested in studying and working in the US for college. Roscon Foundation's Life Mentors Program supports our exchange students and host families by helping organize the community service and cultural presentations the students are required to perform as part of their scholarship.

If you would like to know more check out the link on this Local Coordinator brochure! Training for new LCs will be in Washington, DC in February 2019. Feel free to reach out to me for any questions regarding this program.

My Best,

Conrad Alagaban

Bringing Paris to Dallas

On Friday, February 13, 2015 from 6:30pm – 10:00pm, Chosen Youth Ministry hosted "A Night in Paris”. Local community and other non-profit organizations got connected. That magical, mystical moment was hosted by the Friendship West Baptist Church last February 13, 2015. Roscon Foundation was represented by Conrad Alagaban, Jr., Professional Development Director, who raised $107 for the night!
